Visually striking office towers with glass facades are susceptible to the influence of different weather conditions on the indoor climate and energy consumption.

Challenge
To heat efficiently and cool economically while achieving the desired climate for all tenants. That’s not an easy task when the glass façade heats the building quickly and a north-south orientation means the climate conditions on the top floors are different from the lower floors.

Solution

A digtal twin was used to process data on building physics, orientation, and weather. Engineers divided the building into climate zones and calculated how weather impacted floors and areas. System technology was optimized accordingly. meteoviva climate was used to consider each system’s operating costs and control them from lowest to highest. For meteoviva climate, different materials and weather conditions on the property posed no challenge.

Results

The investment in meteoviva climate quickly proved its worth, paying off in record time. Smart zoning and data integration enabled big savings without compromising indoor comfort across all floors. More than 163 tonnes of CO2 were slashed annually.
