Curiosity and innovation are highly valued at meteoviva. That’s why you can break new ground at your own pace with us and develop continuously in the process. Explore the possibilities.
How long have you been with meteoviva and what roles have you had during that time?
I have been with meteoviva since 2010. In the beginning, I did all the secretarial work, sales work and accounting. As the number of employees increased, staff were also hired in sales and later for the secretariat. So today I can fully focus on accounting.
What surprised you at the beginning of your career at meteoviva?
That we quickly became a good team. The open office structure, the flat hierarchy, simply working together, complementing each other and being successful.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work give you particular pleasure and fulfillment?
I love numbers and I am very happy with my current position in accounting. Working with weclapp is exciting and I look forward to the further options such as supplier order processing and incoming invoice entry.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you had really made a difference?
Structuring the secretariat at the beginning. With VEMAS came the challenge of a CRM system and processing outgoing invoices was part of my job.
How would you describe the cooperation in our team and what strengths make our team particularly successful?
Everyone feels part of the team. No one is too proud to lend a hand and do the necessary organizational work. If you have questions, you will find open ears and get answers.
In our small administration/finance team, I appreciate the good communication and the security of having a substitute in the event of vacation or illness, which is always a support.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you already successfully taken advantage of?
In the early years, I attended seminars for secretarial work. Further training for the CRM system VEMAS. English I would have liked to have taken the offer of further training to become a financial accountant, but unfortunately it no longer fitted into my private life with parents in need of care. A seminar on time management is in the planning stage.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?
Stay yourself and look forward to a pleasant team with opportunities for further training and advancement.
Why is meteoviva the ideal employer for you?
I love my job at meteoviva. It is varied, responsible and I feel comfortable in my administrative team and in the entire team. Every day I enjoy going to the office or working from my home office. The uncomplicated way of dealing with the management team is also very important to me.

How long have you been at meteoviva and what roles have you had during that time?
I have been at meteoviva since February 2012! Initially, I was responsible for sales and partner training, then as a sales manager and now as a senior sales manager in sales.
What has been your career path at meteoviva and what stations have you passed through?
I already had a lot of sales experience when I joined meteoviva and started directly in customer acquisition and support. I have been taking care of important key accounts, such as the BMW Group or Düsseldorf Airport, from the very beginning.
What surprised you at the beginning of your career at meteoviva?
In the early days, the technology had to be explained to customers in a completely different way. It was often doubted that MVC could work at all. It was surprising to be completely alone in the market with such excellent technology. The very lengthy decision-making processes in the real estate industry at the time were also surprising. Today, the real estate industry has become much more dynamic and faster.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work do you particularly enjoy and fulfill you?
Still the cold calling. Identifying an interesting customer, “hunting” for the right contact person, initial contact and presentation. If a project comes out of it, I’m particularly happy. On the other hand, long-term cooperation with customers is also very important to me. Building a solid partnership based on trust is good and also highly values the sales work.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you had really made a difference?
The strategic collaboration with Düsseldorf Airport is one of these major projects. Overall, we want to avoid over 18,000 tons of CO2 by 2030 with meteoviva climate and the campus project (DSM). For the airport, this also means an effective cost reduction, i.e. a profit of 4 to 5 million euros!
How would you describe the collaboration in our team and what strengths make our team particularly successful?
We work together very well. I see that we are very committed to welcoming and integrating new employees. There is a great program for onboarding and for professional training. This is not a matter of course and is very important for the long-term success of the team in the continuous growth process.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you already successfully taken advantage of?
So far, meteoviva has done little for me in this regard. There is room for improvement. The offers are aimed more at younger employees and those just starting their careers.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?
Have the courage to do it! Come to us. It’s rare to find such a great team anywhere else!
Why is meteoviva the ideal employer for you?
For me, it is the whole package that counts. We achieve a lot in environmental and climate protection. We offer our customers an excellent service. And with our concept, we are also economically successful. The meteoviva team has grown, but still works together as a team. Due to the strategic development with new products, we will also be more successful in the long term. It certainly won’t be boring…

After my first few months at the company, our corporate structure was revised. I stayed in my department and try to contribute to the success of our team.
What surprised you at the beginning of your career at meteoviva?
I still like best that all employees, from the management to the student room, can communicate on an equal footing and are very open with each other.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work do you particularly enjoy and fulfill you?
I like it best when I manage to convince the customer that we have a good product and that their cooperation in the project will be improved as a result.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you really made a difference?
When we achieve a high level of savings in a property, that’s very direct feedback and shows that we’re doing good work as a team.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you already successfully taken advantage of?
There is the opportunity to take language courses or professional development during working hours. So far, I have taken two training courses on communication and learned a lot.

How long have you been at meteoviva and what roles have you had during that time?
I have been at meteoviva for 2 years now. I started as an intern, was taken on as a working student and have been working as a permanent employee in the CC GA team for 4 months.
What surprised you at the beginning of your career at meteoviva?
That I liked the work and the team so much, there was a very pleasant atmosphere, great interaction with colleagues and I woke up every morning and felt like going to work.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work do you particularly enjoy and fulfill you?
I think the projects themselves are exciting. But what also makes me happy about my work at meteoviva is the variety. On the one hand, I like to work alone and on the other hand, I also enjoy the exchange with colleagues very much. I like to be in the office at my laptop, but every now and then it’s also nice to do something different and see new things on a business trip. Overall, I enjoy everything.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you had really made a difference?
We are still in the early stages of developing the EMS, and I often felt that I was able to provide significant support to colleagues in their projects. I feel that I have made a difference with the EMS for individual customers, but it will probably take until the end of the year before the real impact becomes apparent.
How would you describe the cooperation in our team and what strengths make our team particularly successful?
We stick together and are first and foremost colleagues, but we also enjoy spending time together outside of work. Overall, it is a very honest team with its heart in the right place. I think that’s what makes the team so successful.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you already successfully taken advantage of?
I have completed further training as a fire protection and evacuation officer and I will soon be attending a two-day workshop for the EMS, where there will be a lot more to learn.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?
At meteoviva you will be warmly welcomed, just be authentic and everything will be fine.

How long have you been with meteoviva and what roles have you had during that time?
I have been working as a backend software engineer at meteoviva for about two years (October 2022).
What has your career been like at meteoviva and what stations have you passed through?
After completing a master’s degree in computer science and gaining a few years of professional experience, I started working at meteoviva as a backend software engineer in October 2022.
In the first few weeks and months, I first got to know the technical architecture of our core product meteoviva Climate bit by bit. On the one hand, this was done through intensive exchange with colleagues, by discussing our system landscape (web applications, microservices and data pipelines) e.g. on a whiteboard. On the other hand, I was also able to work directly on the code and implement initial features for colleagues in other departments or directly for our end customers and deploy them securely via our CIPipeline. As I gained more experience in working with our code base, the complexity of my tasks increased and I was able to plan and implement optimizations with a high degree of independence, thus improving the stability and performance of individual core processes of our product. From the end of 2023 until today, my work has shifted to our new product amanteia. On the one hand, the design and implementation of complex backend systems was familiar technical terrain for me, but on the other hand, there were also some new challenges to overcome. On the one hand, I was able to familiarize myself with the highly exciting technical domain of real estate decarbonization. On the other hand, I took on important non-technical tasks in the software development process by managing an external software development team and coordinating between stakeholders.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work do you particularly enjoy and find fulfilling?
These are often very different things.
For example, how important direct communication and collaboration are. I particularly appreciate the immediate reaction in the company chat when I have rolled out a simple feature that makes my colleagues’ daily work easier. This also shows that my work contributes to the company’s success.
I also enjoy spending a longer period of time working intensively on a solution to a problem. As a computer scientist, this is just as important to me as the satisfaction of seeing that we can actively shape the future with our products.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you really made a difference?
We collect all kinds of telemetry data in our systems to monitor whether processes are working as desired. If we see a problem developing in the data, we can respond proactively. A few months after I started at meteoviva, we were able to identify an impending problem in this way: under certain circumstances, the flow of data from the buildings to our systems slowed down, which could have a negative impact on the stability of the overall system. My task was to analyze the interaction of our distributed system landscape in the observed scenario and to develop and implement a solution. Since this was a complex change to one of our central processes, I decided on a data-driven and incremental rollout to minimize the risk. This meant that I first rolled out the change to a few buildings and then gradually to more and more. I then verified that the expected improvements could also be seen in reality using our telemetry. Ultimately, I was able to further increase the stability and performance of the system. Data from our buildings is now available faster for customers and employees, and we are prepared for more and more buildings, and for buildings that are getting bigger and bigger.
How does our company support your professional development, and what training opportunities have you already taken advantage of?
As a software developer, it’s important to me to stay informed about new developments and technologies. For example, I attended a conference on an open source technology used in the company. In addition to interesting technical lectures, I also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with developers from other companies at the conference.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?

How long have you been at meteoviva and what roles have you had during that time?
I started in August 2022, I was hired as a commercial employee and after a short time I took over the People & Culture department.
What has your career been like at meteoviva and what stations have you passed through?
At the beginning, I did a bit of everything, from preparatory accounting, invoicing and recruiting. Then, little by little, I took on more tasks in the area of human resources until I was almost completely in charge of this area. I was developed in line with my strengths and I still see a lot of potential for me and my position in the future.
What surprised you at the beginning of your career at meteoviva?
I think that meteoviva is very young and modern for an SME. The helpfulness and relaxed atmosphere in the team were a very positive surprise for me. People here are always open to good ideas.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work do you particularly enjoy and fulfill you?
I appreciate the variety in my area and the collaboration with different colleagues. There is almost no one in the team that I don’t talk to regularly, and I’m always looking forward to meeting new people. Every day brings something new and I can learn new things. I enjoy taking on new challenges. I particularly enjoy developing new concepts and measures.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you had really made a difference?
I selected and set up new programs in the area of human resources management. In particular, “Personio” as a human resources management tool has brought us a great deal of transparency in the human resources area as a digital solution.
How would you describe the collaboration in our team and what strengths make our team particularly successful?
The collaboration at Meteoviva is characterized by a willingness to help and team spirit. From the very beginning, everyone I spoke to told me that I was always welcome to approach them with questions, and that has definitely been the case over the last two years. In my area, we work hand in hand and exchange ideas almost daily, in person or via Teams. Everyone is always available and wants to be part of the solution.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you already successfully taken advantage of?
Based on my abilities, my supervisor and I have discussed a few options for further training, which I will be taking advantage of in the near future. So far, I have been able to improve my French with a language course, which is very helpful in our international environment.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at MeteoViva?
It’s not about making the perfect first impression, but about the authenticity that we all bring with us to the company. In general, I would advise everyone to find a job where their daily routine is fulfilling and the environment is right. Work isn’t always fun, but personally, I get a lot out of exchanging ideas with colleagues and getting feedback from managers.
Why is meteoviva the ideal employer for you?
For me, the flexible working hours and the open team are essential. I love the exchange with colleagues and the relaxed environment. Everyone can come as they are and there is open communication. I am able to further educate myself in the areas that interest me the most and that are also needed in the company, so it definitely won’t get boring anytime soon.

How long have you been with meteoviva and what roles have you had during that time?
I have been working at meteoviva since April 2021. Initially, I started as a student on a practical semester and gained my first experiences. I then worked as a student trainee before writing my bachelor’s thesis at the company. I am now employed as a plant engineer.
What has your career been like at meteoviva and what stations have you passed through?
My journey at meteoviva began with an internship semester, during which I learned the basics of building control technology. After that, I worked as a student trainee on real projects, which gave me deeper insights into building optimization. During my bachelor’s thesis, I focused on specific optimization processes that I now implement in my work as a plant engineer.
What surprised you at the beginning of your career at meteoviva?
I was pleasantly surprised that I was treated as a full team member from the very beginning, even though I started out as an intern. The expertise I had acquired through my previous training and work as a mechatronics engineer for refrigeration and air conditioning technology was highly valued and put to good use within the company.
Which tasks and projects in your daily work do you particularly enjoy and find fulfilling?
Optimizing the energy and climate control systems in buildings is one of the most fulfilling tasks for me. Direct customer contact and the associated troubleshooting tasks, where I can efficiently solve problems, are what make my work so varied. I also really enjoy large projects, such as managing buildings like Tower 185, and working with well-known customers like BMW and Continental in different countries (Germany, Poland, Netherlands).
Can you give us an example of a project or task where you felt you really made a difference?
One particularly successful project was the energy optimization of the LIV office building (Deka), where we managed to save around 60% on energy costs. Another outstanding example was the Vitreum project (Commerzbank), where we were able to create a pleasant indoor climate despite a defective cooling system by using intelligent control technologies – and at particularly favorable external conditions.
How would you describe the cooperation in our team and what strengths make our team particularly successful?
The cooperation at meteoviva is characterized by open communication – even when difficult topics arise. Everyone is willing to accept suggestions and work together to make improvements. The team invests a lot of time and energy in continuous improvement, which makes us strong as a unit.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you already successfully taken advantage of?
meteoviva places a high value on the further development of its employees. For example, I have successfully completed the ‘project management license’, which has given me new tools and methods for my work. The company offers regular training opportunities to keep up to date with the latest technology.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?
If you are open to new ways of thinking in building control and enjoy challenging projects, meteoviva is the right place for you. In addition, the company offers a very pleasant and cooperative working environment in which you can develop personally.

One project that stands out was the introduction of our new project management software. It was a major undertaking that presented both technical and organizational challenges. By working closely with my team and other departments, we were able to successfully implement the new software and adapt it to our company’s specific requirements. The result is a significant improvement in our processes, more transparency in project execution and greater efficiency in our day-to-day business.
