Curiosity and innovation are highly valued at meteoviva. You can explore new paths at your own pace and continuously develop yourself. Discover the possibilities.
How long have you been at meteoviva and what roles have you held during this time?
I have been with meteoviva since 2010. At the beginning, I handled the entire secretariat, sales work, and accounting. As the number of employees increased, staff were hired for sales and later for the secretariat, allowing me to focus on accounting.
What surprised you at the start of your career at meteoviva?
That we quickly grew into a good team. The open office structure, the flat hierarchy, working together easily, complementing one another, and being successful.
Which tasks and projects in your work bring you particular joy and fulfil you?
I love numbers and am very happy in my current position in accounting. Working with weclapp is exciting, and I look forward to further opportunities such as supplier order processing and incoming invoice recording.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you really made a difference?
The structuring of the secretariat at the beginning. With VEMAS came the challenge of a CRM system, and handling outgoing invoices which was part of my role.
How would you describe the collaboration in our team, and what strengths make our team successful?
Everyone feels part of the team. No one is too proud to pitch in or take care of important organisational tasks. If you have any questions, you will find open ears and you will receive answers. In our small administration/finance team, I appreciate the good communication and the assurance of cover in case of holidays or illness, which always provides support.
How does our company support your professional development, and what training opportunities have you already successfully utilised?
I attended seminars for secretarial processing in the early years. I have also taken courses for the CRM system VEMAS. I would have liked to take up the offer for further training as a financial accountant, but unfortunately, it no longer fit into my personal life with caregiving for elderly parents. A seminar on time management is planned.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?
Be yourself and look forward to a pleasant team with opportunities for further training and advancement.
Why is meteoviva the ideal employer for you?
I love my job at meteoviva. It is varied, responsible, and I feel comfortable with my team. Every day I enjoy going to the office or working from home. The straightforward manner of dealing with the management team is also very important to me.

How long have you been at meteoviva and what roles have you held?
I have been at meteoviva since February 2012. Initially I was responsible for sales and partner training, then as a sales manager and now, I’m a senior sales manager.
What has your career path at meteoviva been like?
I came to meteoviva with extensive sales experience and immediately started in customer acquisition and support. I have managed important key accounts, such as the BMW Group and Düsseldorf Airport, from the very beginning.
What surprised you at the start of your career at meteoviva?
In the early days, the technology had to be explained very differently to customers. Many questioned whether MVC could even work at all. It was surprising to be completely alone in the market with such an excellent technology. The decision-making processes in the real estate sector were very lengthy at that time. Today, the real estate industry has become quicker and more dynamic.
What tasks and projects in your daily work bring you particular joy and fulfil you?
Still, it’s cold calling. Identifying an interesting client, the ‘hunt’ for the right person, initial contact, and presentation. If a project comes out of that in the end, I am particularly pleased. On the other hand, long-term collaboration with clients is also important to me. Building a solid partnership based on trust is a sign of great sales work.
Can you provide an example of a project or task where you felt you truly made an impact?
The strategic collaboration with Düsseldorf Airport is one of those major projects. Overall, we aim to reduce more than 18,000 tonnes of CO2 with meteoviva climate and the campus project (DSM) by 2030. This also means cost reduction for the airport and should translate to additional profit of 4 to 5 million euros!
How would you describe the collaboration within our team, and what strengths make our team successful?
The collaboration is distinctly collegiate. I see that we are very committed to the integration of new employees. There is a great programme for onboarding and professional training. This is not a given and is very important for long-term team success, and continuous growth.
How does our company support your professional development and what training opportunities have you utilised so far?
meteoviva has done little for me in this regard. There is room for improvement. The offerings are more geared towards younger employees and those new to the profession.
What advice do you have for people who want to start their career at meteoviva?
Go for it! Join us. You rarely find such a fantastic team elsewhere!
Why is meteoviva the ideal employer for you?
For me, it’s the overall package. We contribute significantly to environmental and climate protection. We offer our clients excellent service. Through this, we are also economically successful. The meteoviva team has grown, but still functions well together. Due to the strategic development with new products, we will also be successful in the long term. It certainly won’t be boring.

How long have you been at meteoviva, and what roles have you held during this time?
I have been working as a backend software engineer at meteoviva since October 2022.
What has your career path been like at meteoviva?
After completing a Master’s degree in Computer Science and gaining several years of professional experience, I began at meteoviva as a backend software engineer.
In the initial weeks and months, I gradually became familiar with the technical architecture of our core product, meteoviva Climate. This was achieved through intensive discussions with colleagues, where we reviewed our system landscape (web applications, microservices, and data pipelines) on the whiteboard. I worked directly with the code. I implemented initial features for some of our other departments and directly for our customers, and securely deployed them via our CI pipeline. As my experience with our codebase grew, so did the complexity of my tasks, allowing me to plan and execute optimisations with a great deal of independence thereby improving the stability and performance of individual core processes of our product. Since the end of 2023, my work has moved towards our new product, amanteia. In the design and implementation of complex backend systems, I encountered familiar technical terrain on one hand, but also faced several new challenges. I immersed myself in the highly exciting field of decarbonising real estate. Under the guidance of an external software development team, and while coordinating between stakeholders, I took on important non-technical tasks in the software development process.
What tasks and projects in your daily work bring you joy and fulfil you?
These are often quite different things. For example, the importance of direct communication and collaboration. I particularly appreciate the immediate reaction in the company chat when I have rolled out a simple feature that makes daily work easier for my colleagues. This also shows that my work contributes to our success.
I also enjoy problem solving, over an extended period. It motivates me and brings me joy as a computer scientist, which is just as important as the pleasure of seeing that we are actively shaping the future with our products.
Can you give an example of a project or task where you felt you truly made a difference?
In our systems, we collect various telemetry data to monitor whether processes are functioning as intended. If we see a problem looming, we can respond proactively. A few months after I started at meteoviva, we found a developing issue: under certain circumstances, the data flow from the buildings to our systems slowed down, which negatively impacted the stability of the overall system. I had to analyse our distributed system landscape in different scenarios and develop a solution concept. As it involved a complex change to one of our central processes, I, incrementally introduced a data-driven solution, to minimise risk. Initially I made the change to a few buildings, and then gradually to more and more. Through our telemetry, I then made sure, that the improvements could also be seen in reality. Ultimately, I was able to further enhance the stability and performance of the system. The data from our buildings is now available more quickly for customers and employees, and we are prepared for an increasing number of larger buildings.
How does our company support your professional development, and what training opportunities have you utilised?
As a software developer, it is important to me to stay informed about new developments and technologies. I attended a specialist conference on an open-source technology, we use within the company. In addition to some interesting technical presentations, I also had the opportunity at the conference to exchange ideas with developers from other companies.
