Product: meteoviva climate

BMW’s philosophy ‘always one step ahead’ is on show in the group’s IT center, where meteoviva climate is improving building operations.

Challenge
To realize a solution for BMW’s IT center that reduces energy consumption and contributes to ecological sustainability without extra costs.

Solution

We began by dividing the five-story building into different climate zones. These were digitally modelled, with each zone assigned its own climate profile and a defined temperature range. This helped us optimize the energy supply to requirements. The existing building management system’s digital interface meant the smart data solution could be implemented swiftly and ‘silently’.

A customized financing approach saw BMW repay the costs through a profit share based on energy reductions. With 25% energy savings guaranteed, BMW and meteoviva had tangible project success from the get-go.

Results

District heating consumption in the IT center dropped by 25% in the first year. Room temperatures in the individual zones met specified ranges at all times. A small proportion of cooling costs were saved, but the thermal comfort in the rooms improved noticeably during the summer.

meteoviva climate also served as an early warning system. The smart data control system identified malfunctions in system operation at an early age. This eased the facility management service provider’s tasks.
