HANSAINVEST Real Assets benefits from MeteoViva’s intelligent building control strategies at the Dancing Towers in Hamburg

– Hamburg’s Reeperbahn landmark building will significantly raise its sustainability by implementing MeteoViva’s intelligent building control strategy

– HANSAINVEST Real Assets achieves cost and emission savings with an active asset management approach

Jülich/Hamburg, 05. May 2020 — HANSAINVEST Real Assets will use MeteoViva Climate to control its flagship property “Dancing Towers” at Reeperbahn 1 in Hamburg. The installation has already started and the system is expected to go live in July this year. The decision for a technology that is geared towards sustainability and occupant comfort is an additional component of HANSAINVEST Real Assets’ strategy to reduce the CO2 emissions of its real estate portfolio. In 2019, the investment manager had already converted the energy supply of its German real estate portfolio to be carbon-neutral through a cooperation with the consulting firm Argentus.

“MeteoViva Climate is now well established and deserves its excellent reputation in the industry,” comments Martina Averbeck, Managing Director of HANSAINVEST Real Assets, and adds: “With the digital solution we are reducing our CO2 emissions and operating costs while increasing the comfort for our tenants. This is one of many examples of our active asset management approach to increase the value of our properties".

“MeteoViva highlights its leading position in intelligent building controls once again with this project. Our goal is for MeteoViva Climate to establish itself as the standard solution for a smart technical facility management in commercial properties worldwide," says Dr. Jan Scheffler, Managing Director of MeteoViva. He adds: "The implementation in the Dancing Towers shows that our solution can further increase the sustainability even in high-tech buildings with LEED Gold certification".

The tenant and manager of the Dancing Towers, STRABAG Property and Facility Services GmbH, are also excited about the cooperation. “We were one of the advocates for a MeteoViva implementation. The approach that combines a comfortable indoor climate with energy efficiency reflects our aspiration for a sustainable building operation,” says Hans Voss, Head of Facility Services at STRABAG Property and Facility Services GmbH.

HANSAINVEST Real Assets acquired the Dancing Towers from STRABAG Real Estate in September 2014. The property has a total rental space of around 33,000 m² and earned LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council. The property won the first place in the "Office" category of the World Prix d'Excellence in 2015 and the MIPIM and Property Manager Award in 2014 as well as Gold at the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Germany.
