MeteoViva raises the bar in building management IT security

All of MeteoViva’s IT and business processes have been ISO 27001-certified by TÜV Rheinland

Cybersecurity is becoming a critical element in corporate real estate management

Jülich, June 25, 2020 — In May, MeteoViva GmbH, the leading smart data provider for commercial real estate, was certified according to the information security standard ISO 27001:2013. To receive the certification, the company underwent an in-depth audit by TÜV Rheinland.

The certificate proves that MeteoViva has established and implemented an effective management system according to ISO 27001 for the protection of information. To this end, the auditors examined all relevant corporate divisions at the German site.

The international standard ISO 27001:2013 requires introduction and implementation of measures to prevent unauthorized data access and the loss of information and its falsifica-tion, as well as ensuring that information security risks are detected early and reduced accordingly. To address this, MeteoViva has developed and introduced its own Information Security Management System (ISMS) which complies to ISO 27001 and is specially tailored to the organisation.

At the certificate handover, Lead Auditor Herbert Merkens from TÜV Rheinland emphasized the high level of commitment: "It was clearly noticeable that both the management and the ISMS team were driving the certification, and generally invest a lot of time and thought into the topic of information security.“

To ensure that the high demands on the system are also met in the future, a yearly monitoring audit is carried out by TÜV Rheinland.

Cybersecurity in buildings is the key topic of the future
With the trend towards more data interconnectivity in buildings, cybersecurity is also becoming a central task for Corporate Real Estate and Facility Services Management. MeteoViva takes this topic very seriously and aims to also play a pioneering role in this industry. Dr. Stefan Hardt, Spokesman of the Management Board: "With the ISO certification, we show that we can offer our customers a high level of information security. We also assume that more and more companies will demand data security and data protection from their building automation service providers. Having an active ISMS will be a business requirement in the future". This applies all the more when doing business with customers who work in critical infrastructures, for example public authorities, airports or public utilities.
